The United States is still swept with disbelief as the Iowa caucus voting results were delayed by almost an entire day. The cause for this issue? A mobile app disaster. Voters were given the option on Monday to place their decision for their democratic candidate with a new mobile app that the government was using for the first time. Unfortunately, the app failed to log many of these votes which lead to a large delay in collecting final tallies. In response, the issue was described as a simple “coding issue” and was not the result of any security breach. Do you think a mobile application would make sense to use in voting circumstances?
