Social Commerce Startup, Meesho, Raises $50 Million in Series C

A startup company based in India named Meesho, recently raised $50 million and has plans of expanding its company at rapid growth. The capital comes through a Series C round as Meesho has already raised about $15 million through its two previous rounds. The platform focuses on providing individuals on WhatsApp with products and software tools that will enable them to resell products for profit. Sellers are chosen to be on the platform and is becoming widely popular in the country as individuals are looking to create another source of income. Roughly 80 percent of the sellers are woman and approximately 1/3 are students as well. With Meesho’s revenue constantly growing combined with it’s focus to help woman and low income individuals, the platform has poise to be disruptive in the entrepreneurial era.
