Over the past few years, the presidential election and digital political ads have become quite the hot topic. Large social media and technology giants have struggled to deal with the issue of filtering accurate advertisements. Combined with a lack of regulation, there has been lots of speculation of how the issue will be dealt with going into the future. Interestingly, Spotify has recently announced that they will be pausing all political ads that are running on their platform, following right behind Twitter. The move comes as quite a shock considering a large portion of the company’s revenue is driven by advertising that is run for free users.
